Putting away the spatula, glue gun, and mod podge and grabbing the paint roller and brush.

Guess what?  I love to paint houses, rooms and furniture.  I especially love to cut in, and prep.  Weird I know, but I do.  I painted houses for a while about 3 years ago, and got pretty good at it.  I had to stop because my hand and arm were destroyed from holding the paint brush and roller.   And our 25' ladder was just too heavy for my 5'2" body to lug around.

We remodeled our kitchen a few years ago with new appliances, newly painted cabinets, granite, and a beautiful one bowl deep sink that I love.  I love the color I painted the walls, but a couple months ago, I painted the family room a beautiful Samovar Silver (grey-blue) from Sherwin Williams.  You know how it goes, when you paint one room, all the rest need to be redone.  So I have begun in the kitchen to brighten it up, and give it new life (AGAIN).  My husband thinks the walls are an inch thicker because I have painted that room so many times.  I can't help it.  When we moved in, it was completely wall papered and my taste in decorating has changed over the years and I like to keep things fresh and updated.

Now, I debated if I should post these pictures, because the kitchen was a mess, but my husband needed the camera for the day in LA and I had to quickly take them.   Everyone has a messy house at some point right?  Especially in the middle of a makeover, and the kids had left for school, and I had run to home depot, and it was like 8:00 a.m.

I decided that I live in the real world, and my world is sometimes messy.  So here are a couple of pictures of the room before.  The walls are a dark green, and they make the cabinets pop, and it matches the granite perfectly but I'm ready to brighten up the walls.

Hopefully, by the weekend I will have it repainted, with new pictures to post of our newly painted and brighter kitchen.  That horrible kitchen table will be next on the list to repaint.  And goodbye ugly chairs.  Your time has come to an end.

I used to paint my rooms constantly. I once painted my living room twice in one day! Anyway one day I just quit painting and now all my rooms need it, but I don't want to do it! can't wait to see the finished project.

My office is crying out for a paint job (it's currently Gator orange and blue - I've blogged about it), but the thought of moving all that mess is daunting.

I'm wondering if I could move everything away from the walls two feet and just paint around the mound...hmmm...

Looking forward to seeing your 'after'!
